Hubble crew boards space shuttle for practice run | Science | Reuters

With the Hubble mission on the verge of launch, NASA has place Enterprise in standby mode in case Atlantis would need to be rescued. Mission details are still being worked out. Because of the complexity of a single launch, another launch within a week would be very difficult. To add to the stress of the situation Hurricane Ike pounded parts of the Cape and delayed the original launch date. Luckily the storm season for the Atlantic is coming to a close and should not pose any further delays for the launch on OCT. 14.

Hubble has been a wonderful asset to deep space exploration and should be a be to continue its long life in space with this mission’s success.
