Proverbs 21:3 To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
I know it has been a while since I posted but today was a great verse to hop back in and comment on. The ideas of righteousness, justice, and sacrifice are not zero sum gains but instead balanced by what is and is not there. Self sacrifice is in and of itself a selfish based act. We chose to give something up from ourselves, a perception of being less than whole based on need or want. This can be done based secular views and outside of the realm of God’s work. However, we shown to be undeserving of anything due to our sinful nature.
Whereas, righteousness is becoming the reflection of God’s work in our life and justice is the treatment of others based on God’s judgement. These are both external and require our free acknowledgment of God’s will, not merely the acceptance of His presence. Through this others might see God not because of who we are but who God has made us into.
