The Atlantic: The Tragedy of the American Military

This piece by James Fallows is a great analysis of the current state of the military and how we are living Eisenhower’s greatest fear of a MIC run amuck. I don’t always agree with their views but this one has some great points, F-35 spending scandals, and research about the reasons why the Pentagon has not learned anything from the past two wars, Fellows helped co-write a memo on how to reorganise the Pentagon. This is not an antimilitary puff piece, but instead a real look at American apathy towards military policy and lack of citizen volunteers.
