Far to often we look at the things around us and seek joy in them. That’s not what God wants for us. He wants us to seek Him first and let Him bring to us what we need. It is finding the balance between our wants, needs, and wanting only what we need that is the part based on faith. Envy and covetedness will only fall away when we trust what God will provide. Then we find joy in everyday life.
Read what Joshua Becker has to say:
The war to take control of our motivations is never ending. Even if we have been pursuing minimalism for a while, materialism can still grab hold of our hearts. Whenever it does for you, use it to uncover your hidden motivations, and redirect those motivations to find the happiness you really want, not the false happiness money and possessions promise.
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:34 ESV
