Who do you honestly trust, a friend, an ally, a stranger? We live in a world that showers praise and adoration onto people we only know from a distance. Yet, we withdraw from those closest to us to seek those cheers from the crowd. Think about these ideas as you pray today:
- Be mindful of your time online and in social media, as it can be empty praise or chastisement.
- Praise loved ones in success and failure.
- Accept praise, but never as an exchange for vain compliment.
- Those who seek your praise but never strengthen you are not friends.
Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.
