VOD: Trust

Who do you honestly trust, a friend, an ally, a stranger? We live in a world that showers praise and adoration onto people we only know from a distance. Yet, we withdraw from those closest to us to seek those cheers from the crowd. Think about these ideas as you pray today:

  • Be mindful of your time online and in social media, as it can be empty praise or chastisement.
  • Praise loved ones in success and failure.
  • Accept praise, but never as an exchange for vain compliment.
  • Those who seek your praise but never strengthen you are not friends.

Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.
Proverbs 27:5‭-‬6 ESV

Read this quote from “The Curious Christian: How Discovering Wonder Enriches Every Part of Life” by Barnabas Piper

(C)uriosity is more than a mere trait. It is a discipline, a skill, a habit— one that will expand… Curiosity is like taking your mind and heart on trips to exotic places to experience things you’ve never before seen and then returning home to take those you love with you.
